This blog was supposed to be a tribute to quilting-embroidery-needle work, etc., but the last 11 months of 2011 have been a whirlwind of activity. By that I mean, between making a move 1200 miles in August and all that went with that move---it has been exhausting!
Let's just say I was born in Michigan, moved to Texas 27yrs ago and just recently moved back to Michigan. So I like to refer to it as ----Northerner turned Southerner turned Northerner ! I really never thought I would move back to Michigan, but have always missed the snow! God blessed me with my first "holiday snow" on Wednesday morning! We woke to 5 beautiful inches on the ground and everywhere. It was truly a Winter Wonderland.
Because so much of my quilting stuff is boxed or in storage at this time---do not have a finished sewing studio yet---I just haven't felt like sewing so I have become an avid Pinterest follower of all things quilty as well as sewing and crochet/knitting. I live vicariously at this time thru others! The blogs of others with their quilting works of art as well as great tutorials keep my mind satisfied at this point. I hope some day to be able to have a cute blog site that equals so many of them.
My journey back to Michigan is a mission of love. Dear daughter, a former pediatrician in the military, wanted to do a Pediatric fellowship in Critical Care. She being a single mom with 2 adorable girls, I volunteered to go wherever she decided and help her for the 3-4 yrs with the girls so that she wouldn't have to worry about their care in her (long, long, long hours) absence. When the move to Michigan became known we purchased a large house big enough for all of us---therefore we became a multi-generational family! The move became official for me in August, but dear hubby is still back in Texas because the house there has not sold. He has a job he likes and commutes to Michigan for a week each month to visit and also to work on a list of "honey do's" that we usually have for him. Miss him a lot--been married for 40yrs---yes we were babies when we married--lol! We pray that someone sends a buyer for the house so that "Poppy" can join us soon.
Today DH comes for his monthly visit and we are excited as usual! Actually he was supposed to be here late last night, but his first plane got cancelled and therefore he missed his second plane. He is holed up in a hotel in Dallas--compliments of the airline--and will fly out this morning. Abbey and I will pick him up at noon. He is a hot headed Italian with a big loud voice so we might have to bring some earplugs in preparation for his anger for not getting here last night--lol! It is always exciting to have him back in our midst. Hopefully the next post won't be 10 months from now!

a snow day in Michigan
Well, just a lazy day at the new house in Pinckney Michigan. Dear hubby is upstairs painting and since we have no TV connection and I'm feelin lazy--here I am! No internet connection for days . Came back from IHOP and McDonalds--no internet available due to weather , I guess. Hubby says lets check and see if any of the new neighbors have WiFi that we can log onto. Yikes! They do, and now we have! Lol--so have been busy scouring the net for great craft ideas.Stumbled onto "Japanese flowers" and have spent hours trying to find a link to someone posting it.

Welcome to my crazy love affair with all things made of fabric!
This is my very first post in my very first blog -- SewSaucySuzy. I am a long time sewer of many different genres. For approximately 10 years I have been primarily interested in quilting. I have pieced, appliqued, etc., and about 5 yrs ago purchased a longarm. Yesterday I learned that a quilt I had done the custom quilting on won "Best Of Show". Needless to say---I am THRILLED! Now let me say that I did not make the top--a dear friend did--but I was given the task of bringing it to life with over 50 hrs of machine quilting. When finished it looked like an antique quilt--and some long-time quilters even mentioned that to me. So let me tell you too, that this was my third custom quilt and I am overwhelmed that the judges recognized my "beginner's" talent as award worthy.
